Terrifying scaffolding collapse in Mumbai caught on camera: Dust storm video

The recent weather turmoil in Mumbai has wreaked havoc across the city, with unseasonal rain and a dust storm causing significant disruptions. Among the chaos, a chilling incident unfolded in Wadala East, where a scaffolding collapsed amid the fierce winds and heavy rainfall. The horrifying moment was captured on video, depicting the scaffold crashing down as vehicles passed by, resulting in at least seven injuries, all of whom have been rushed to Rajawadi Hospital for treatment.

Similarly, in another alarming event, a massive billboard toppled onto a fuel station in Ghatkopar East, leaving seven individuals injured and requiring immediate medical attention.

Authorities are actively engaged in search and rescue efforts, with concerns that some individuals may be trapped beneath the fallen structures.

The adverse weather conditions, characterized by heavy winds, lightning, and rain, have primarily affected areas like Thane, Palghar, and the eastern suburbs of Mumbai, including Mulund, Titwala, and Kalyan. A NOWCAST issued earlier predicted gusty winds of 50-60 km/hr, thunderstorms, lightning, and moderate to intense rainfall, with isolated areas possibly experiencing hail.

Sushma Nair, a scientist at IMD, attributed this unusual weather pattern to a trough over Madhya Maharashtra, indicating that these conditions are expected to subside within the next few hours.

As a result of the inclement weather, metro and train services between several stations have been suspended, and flight operations at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport were temporarily halted due to low visibility and rains, leading to the diversion of at least 15 flights.

Furthermore, the city witnessed multiple incidents of falling trees and power outages in some areas, compounding the challenges posed by the severe weather conditions.
